Donna Mitchell, M.A
What makes therapy with me special?
I’m an advocate for change when it’s necessary. I believe that no pattern is too fixed, and that you don’t have to continue living a life that doesn’t support your happiness.
I am devoted to your process of healing, and don’t apply a ‘one-size-fits all’ approach. Rather I want to get on the same page as you and be with you there. I use an eclectic approach to therapy relying predominantly on my training in Narrative Therapy; Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Psychodynamic Therapy. This means that I will use the therapeutic approach that I feel will best assist each client.
I expertly build on the good in your life or your relationship. I’ll be here to laugh with you and to share in your joys and victories, and I’ll be here to stay with you as you go through the rough times. I’ll be in your corner, routing for you/your relationship and helping you to find meaning and transformation.
I hold a Master’s Degree in Counselling Psychology from Rhodes University (Cum Laude). What this means is that I obtained a 3 year Degree in Psychology. This was followed by a year-long Honours Degree in Psychology (Cum Laude). I then continued my studies with a two-year Counselling Psychology Master’s Degree and practical Internship (Cum Laude). As part of my Master’s course I also completed Master’s Thesis (Cum Laude).
I am registered with the HPCSA (Health Professions Council of South Africa). My practice number is PS0126004.
I am also a Graduate Member of the British Psychological Society (BPS). Membership number 452304.
I’m also a registered member of the HCPC (Health and Care Professions Council) in the UK.
Furthermore I adhere to strict confidential policies with clients. With these features in place my practice is able to be secure.
